The Alaska Geek is for DIY projects, maker experiments, practical tech, and honest reviews from Alaska. It is about building useful things with the tools, space, and budget people actually have.
The Back Story
I started this mostly because it sounded fun. I like building things, testing tools, solving problems, and sharing what actually happened along the way. Some projects will be things I already know how to do. Some will be learn-with-me projects where the mistakes are part of the value.
No Dream Shop Required
A lot of woodworking and maker content online comes from giant shops packed with expensive production tools. That is not where this starts. A basic miter saw, table saw, one 3D printer, a basic CNC, a laptop, and ordinary tools can still take you a long way.
What Shows Up Here
The projects will be a mix of whatever is on the bench: woodworking, 3D printing, CNC, laser work, apps, home tech, camping gear, outdoor projects, practical fixes, and tools that make repeatable work easier.
Alaska In The Mix
Alaska is part of the identity. Fishing, camping, road trips, rough weather, and outdoor life all shape the kind of gear, projects, and practical choices that are worth talking about here.
For DIYers And Makers
This is meant for beginners and experienced builders. If you are figuring things out, there should be something useful here. If you already know your way around the tools, there should still be process notes, tradeoffs, and product opinions worth checking.
Reviews Stay Honest
I am open to product reviews, paid promotions, and vendor collaborations, but I keep my own opinion. I will not take on work where a company controls what I say. If I misunderstand something or make a mistake, I will correct it, and sometimes that correction belongs in the video because other people may run into the same thing.
